Labor laws apply to all nannies. Including those who work for celebrities.
In recent news, Sharon Stone settled a lawsuit with her former nanny. The nanny alleged that Ms. Stone paid overtime improperly and made racially disparaging remarks.
Because the lawsuit settled, we won’t know if the allegations are true. Even so, the lawsuit serves as a useful reminder that parents must follow overtime and other employment-related laws.
It’s also a useful reminder that parents should have in place a nanny employment agreement that complies with the law.
